Alan Blum, MD

2020 marked the 50th anniversary of the Virginia Slims Women’s Professional Tennis Circuit, the first sport to be named after a cigarette brand. This exhibition traces the evolution of the devastating health impact of this lucrative sponsorship by Philip Morris, as well as the largely ignored efforts by DOC (Doctors Ought to Care) and other grassroots groups beginning in the 1970s to throw tobacco out of sports.
