Mrs. Celia Wallace

Celia Ann Harmon Wallace is chairman of the board of Southern Medical Health Systems, Inc. and chairman of the board of Chunchula Energy Corporation. Born in Brighton, Alabama, Mrs. Wallace is an alumna of the University of Alabama and is board certified in radiological technology. In 1972 she married Dr. Gerald Leon Wallace, a family physician and the founder of Spring Hill Memorial Hospital in Mobile. In 1997, Mrs. Wallace established the Gerald Leon Wallace, MD, Endowed Chair in Family Medicine at The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences, to honor the legacy of Dr. Wallace, who passed away in 1986.

Mrs. Wallace is dedicated to improving institutions of higher learning. To this end, she has served on the Board of Directors of the University of Mobile, the Board of Trustees of Springhill College, the Board of Visitors of the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing, and the National Advisory Board to the President of The University of Alabama. She also serves as a National Trustee of the Boys’ and Girls’ Clubs of America and a member of the Board of Directors of United Way of Mobile, the American Red Cross, the Business Council of Alabama, and the Mobile Opera.

In 1995, Mrs. Wallace received the Joseph W. Cullen Memorial Award from the American Society of Preventive Oncology for national leadership in efforts to end the smoking pandemic.
