In 1993 Doctors Ought to Care partnered with Artist Doug Minkler to create a set of twenty trading cards featuring Minkler’s outlandish art and DOC’s facts about smoking on the reverse to distribute to school children. The absurd caricatures on the cards of characters like Joe Camel, cancerous tumors, tobacco executives, and their victims violently coughing, twisted in agony, or disgusting in their habits are vivid, repugnant, and unforgettable. If the facts and figures on the reverse of the cars don’t dissuade you from smoking, then the sobbing child draped over a coffin or the angels flying to heaven from a house fire might.
